Charlie is a pro drummer, producer, composer. Born to two musicians in the NJ burbs of NYC and growing up in highly musical and artistic household, he was playing piano at age three, drums at nine, sequencing Michael Jackson songs on his dad’s Korg M1 at age eleven and playing his first professional gigs with this parents' dixieland jazz band only a few years later. His early influences included typical 90s rock and hip hop and later jam bands, funk, world music and NYC underground groove jazz.
Coming up with many fine musicians and bands in Philly, his pro career began while still studying at the University of the Arts with developing Universal artist Melody Gardot, drumming and co-producing her debut album Worrisome Heart and eventually drumming on her seminal multiple grammy nominated album My One and Only Thrill produced by Larry Klein, released in 2009. The same year his beat slinging landed a placement as co-writer/co-producer of The Roots' single Get Busy on album Rising Down. His playing around town caught the attention of legendary guitarist Jef Lee Johnson and he became a mainstay member of his trio, regularly touring Europe and drumming on the trio album Zimmerman Shadow. He also had a solid runs with funk/soul powerhouse The Blue Method and his band Tigersapien, an early pioneer of a hybrid live band-electronic music. From jazz to funk to EDM to pop, his drumming career continues to take him all over the world - from the USA to New Zealand; from the Vans Warped tour to the Paris Jazz Festival.
Charlie is currently gigging and doing sessions in the Philly/NJ/NYC area and is tour drummer for Rostrum Records artist Mike Taylor. He is also a member of brand new live-electronic-funk trio Octave Cat with Jesse Miller (Lotus) and Eli Winderman (Dopapod).
